My husband and I visited Amsterdam in 2014 and went to the Droog Hotel, a multi-story building with only one room at the very top. The other floors were filled with delights including a shop, a cafe, a garden, an events room and a library. We were particularly impressed by the library.

A Dutch flower painting mural adorned one wall. Warm yellow chairs provided a strong counterbalance. A delicious light fixture curved above the table like Indian wedding jewelry.

We never forgot that room. When we designed the interior our own place, we referred to that inspiration.
We started with the mural and the chair color. The Bold Yellow is from Velvet Finishes by Kellie.

Then layered in the dining table.

Then added the light fixture.

Let’s pan back to see the result:

We are thrilled with the reminder of our travels and delighted by the feeling this space creates. Can’t wait to have our first dinner party!
