The Jasika Blazer is Finished!

Character Development

Finally, my Blazer of Glory is done! I couldn’t find a blazer in the fabric I wanted or that would fit me well, so I decided to make my own. Forty-plus hours of work later, I have one!

The jacket is the top part of the denim suit that I decided to make in fall 2022 in Seamwork’s Design Your Own Wardrobe workshop. My me-made Ginger jeans are on the bottom!

I’m so proud of developing a fashion vision, learning the skills to do it, and wearing the results.

Many thanks to @anniesewandsew for the photos!

Details

The Jasika blazer pattern is from Closet Core Patterns and is a size 6. I adjusted the pattern for a rounded upper back and sway back, and lengthened the sleeves. I also bought the Tailoring Supplies Kit from Closet Core.

The fabric is a deadstock stretch denim from The Mill End Store in Portland, Oregon.

The lavender paisley lining is from Wawak Sewing, SKU LNG208LA.

The sparkly button is from Needles Studio in Los Altos, CA.

Beth Galvin’s (@beth_sunnygal) Tailoring Class through @hellostitchstudio was very helpful in completing this project.
