Out of the 1.42 million photos uploaded a day on average to Flickr, the “Explore” algorithm along with some human intervention, pick 500 images to highlight as the most interesting. This last week, the Explored process chose one of mine! I was beside myself with excitement and gratitude.
You can see the image below or check it out on my Flickr page.

I ran 3 miles at 6:30am to get to this spot so I could take a photo of the sunrise from beyond this fence but the Bay Trail was closed because of the government shutdown. So I changed my plan and made a photo of the sunrise through the fence and through the obstacle. A friend of mine pointed out that you can indeed get through, around or under the razor wire in this photo.
This experience reminds me of the Kansas State motto: To the stars through difficulty or in Latin “Ad astera per aspera”
It also reminds me of Romans 8:28: We can be sure that every detail of our lives of love for God is worked into something good.
