Hi, my name is Jennifer Hartnett-Henderson. I am an artist, a designer and a maker. I am curious by nature, always asking questions and looking at things.
I create to surface and express emotions without words by turning things over in my mind’s hands without looking at it with my mind’s eye.
My aim is to imbue my work with omotenashi, a focused attention to detail and emotion that anticipates the needs of guests whether they be readers, viewers or users. I strive to be a takumi, one who is skilled in my chosen form. Instead of 10,000 hours, to become a takumi takes 30,000 hours or 30 years of practice. I am 20 years in.
My 3rd grade art class first introduced me to art through the weighty smells of oil paint and turpentine. While I majored in Finance as an undergraduate, I later earned an MFA in Digital Media at San Jose State University and honed my design skills in the Intuitive Design program at University of California, Santa Cruz, Silicon Valley Extension.
My creative work has been exhibited internationally in Argentina, France and in the U.S. in New York, Washington D. C., and the San Francisco Bay Area. My clients include Fortune 100 companies, non-profits, entrepreneurs, and individuals.
I split my time between the Bay Area and Portland, Oregon.
Thank you for visiting.
Enjoy,
Jennifer Hartnett-Henderson
Your photos are simply beautiful! I look forward to seeing more.
Thank you very much Tyna! It’s great to be able to share them in this blog format. Thanks looking and reading!
Hey Jennifer, I love your work, you are very talented and creative!
Thanks Dave for your wonderful compliment and for stopping by to check my work out. Loved the truck photo you posted on IG!
Agree 100% — and would add to this that you’re also “super self-disciplined” —which makes the other two possible.

Hi Kathryn, thank you! I appreciate your support and encouragement! Speaking of self-disciplined, you amaze me with all you are able to explore and curate. Thank you!
It has been years, Jennifer, since you stayed with us. I had not been on the Flickr for over a year and may twice in the past 3. From the little I have read so far, wow!. Ginny remembered a time a Knotts Berry Farm when we spent the day with you there. Anyway, it would be great to be brought up to date about you.
Hi Lance and Ginny! So great to hear from you. Yes, I have very fond memories of when Ginny took me to Knots Berry Farm, especially Pirates of the Caribbean:). And very fond memories of the time staying with you two, and great memories of Pace, and, and, and. I would love to catch up with you and will shoot you a quick e-mail to find out what’s best. Thanks for reaching back from my Flickr ping! Jennifer
Love your photos and philosophy
Thank you!
